Taking A Bite Out of the Competition

Faced with over 100 competing dentists in his downtown DC zip code alone, Dr. John Hunter turned to
1SmartPuppy to differentiate his dental practice from his competitors' and to craft messages that would resonate with patients and prospects alike.
We started by drafting a
BrandZone strategic, tactical, and creative marketing roadmap, and then immediately called upon Nuts & Bolts Interactive to make it work.
I could go into great detail about design, and how NBI worked to bring the ideas in the BrandZone to life. But the big stories here are NBI's content management and goal-tracking systems, because they give Dr. Hunter several key things his competitors would lust for:
- A website that is easy for him to change on his own. Text, images, navigation, and links, are all under his control and he can do it without knowing the first thing about html.
- Measurements of all activity on the site, including the ability to set specific goals and track them. Websites work as marketing tools only when visitors do the things you want them to do. If you're not tracking how frequently visitors are doing those things, you really have no way of measuring how effectively your site is working. With just a few mouse clicks, Dr. Hunter can measure how effectively his goals are being met over any range of dates.
- The ability to see where visitors came from. In fact, we can link backwards to search engines and see exactly what search phrase the visitor entered.

Combine these three elements and use them effectively, and you have a
small business website that is a powerful and flexible marketing tool.
Of course, the fact that NBI has the design chops to create both a logo
and a website that fit the BrandZone to a tee is a major plus. Brand
marketing is about creating and fulfilling the right expectations.
Direct marketing is about putting the right offer in front of the right
people at the right time. Thanks to the artistry, flexibility, and
